Press-on nails are quick and beautiful, but the question we hear most is: "Will taking them off damage my nails?" or "Will the nails be ruined if I pull them off?"
With the right gentle removal method, it's painless, your natural nails stay healthy, and the press-ons can be saved and worn again. Just follow these 4 steps.
STEP 1: Soften the adhesive
Never start by pulling! First, loosen the jelly glue.
- Prepare: a small bowl of warm water.
- Boost it: add a little hand soap and a few drops of oil (cuticle oil, essential oil or even cooking oil works).
- Soak: dip your fingertips in for about 2–3 minutes, until the adhesive feels soft.
STEP 2: Gently lift with a tool
Don't pry them off with your fingers. Use the wooden or crystal cuticle stick from your kit.
- Find the edge: slide the pointed end of the stick gently into the gap at the side of the nail.
- Push slowly: ease it upward along the gap. The nail will loosen and come away on its own.
- Important: if it still feels stuck, soak a little longer. Never force it, or you risk hurting your nail.
STEP 3: Clean off the leftover adhesive
There's usually some used jelly glue left on the back of each press-on. Cleaning it off keeps them in good shape.
- Roll it off: use the tip of the cuticle stick (or a floss pick) to gently roll the adhesive up and away, like rolling up a rug.
- Wipe: finish with a wet wipe so the back of the nail is smooth and clean.
STEP 4: Dry and store
A well-cared-for set can stay with you for a long time.
- Dry completely: make sure each nail is clean and fully dry.
- Put them back: place them neatly in their original case to keep out dust and protect the shape.
Next time you have an event or want to match an outfit, they're ready to go. Wear. Remove. Repeat.
